Who is real golfwest?
Founded in 2005, Real GolfWEST specialized solely on natural golf course construction, design and renovation. Realizing the growing need for personal golf facilities, we were troubled by the unattainable maintenance programs presented to owners. In 2007 Real GolfWEST partnered up with the world’s largest synthetic turf supplier – Synthetic-Turf International.
Today, Real GolfWEST is proud to be the exclusive distributor for all STI products across BC and much of Northern Ontario. STI is a premium synthetic turf company that was founded in 1995 with an initial product line geared solely towards the synthetic golf industry. With prominent endorsements from David Leadbetter and Jim Mclean it is a testament to the company’s superior product quality and professional service, furthermore, it became an obvious and proficient merger for Real GolfWEST.
For large field and sporting applications Real GolfWEST has recently united with A-Turf and Surface America. With their customizable premium products, unsurpassable customer service and 3rd party insured AAA bonding capacity; A-Turf was a welcome addition to our team.

Scott Smockum
Real GolfWEST is owned and operated by Scott Smockum. Scott has a well established and diversified portfolio. He received his honours arts and business degree from Sir Wilfred Laurier University and later obtained his Horticultural Degree in Turf Management from the University of Guelph. Currently, Scott is studying at the University of British Columbia pursuing his Masters in Landscape Architecture. Prior to his introduction to the synthetic turf industry in 2006, Scott was involved in golf course construction for over 10 years. He has worked and shaped many prestigious courses including The Club at Bond Head, renovations for the 2007 Presidents Cup at Royal Montreal , Tobiano, and Tower Ranch. Most notably, during his time overseas while working for GolfEAST, Scott was the senior design consultant for the renovations at Blue Canyon Country Club in Thailand, rated #1 in Asia 5 years running, and host site of the Johnny Walker Classic.

Nicolas Bell
Operating the Ontario division, Nic is the superintendent for Real GolfWEST and the brains behind all of our horticultural concerns. Nic brings 15 years of experience within the golf industry to our team. After graduation from the Golf Course Technicians program at Seneca College, Nic was involved in the construction and grow-in of the Magna Golf Club in Aurora Ontario. After his five year tenure at Magna, he accepted the assistant superintendent’s position for the construction and grow-in at the Club at Bond Head. Nic also allocates his time as the full time Golf Course Superintendent at the Muskoka Highlands Golf Links in Bracebridge, Ontario.
